Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) Course in Jacksonville, Florida

As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), you already do important work every day. Many CNAs want to learn more, feel more confident on the job, and become more valuable to their employer — but are not sure what the next step should be. The Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) course is designed to help you grow without leaving the bedside.

Florida Training Academy's QMA course prepares experienced CNAs to safely assist with medication administration under licensed nurse supervision in nursing centers and long-term care settings.

The course is a 40-hour program that combines flexible online learning with hands-on training.

✓ 26 hours of self-paced online coursework covering medication safety, Florida laws, documentation, and error prevention
✓ 14 hours of in-person training (2 days) focused on hands-on skills, real-world scenarios, and competency validation with experienced nurses

Here’s what to expect next:

• Online course access will be issued beginning January 26, 2026. You will receive a separate email with login instructions once access is available.

• The course includes 26 hours of online learning that must be completed before attending the in-person, hands-on portion of the course.

After completing the online modules, you will attend 14 hours (2 days) of in-person training with experienced nurses for skills practice and competency validation.

Throughout the course, students learn about Florida medication rules, infection control and safety practices, basic anatomy and physiology, approved routes of medication administration, accurate documentation, controlled substances awareness, and how to prevent medication errors.

This course is ideal for Florida CNAs with at least one year of experience who want to grow professionally, increase job confidence, and open doors to new opportunities in long-term care.

Upon successful completion, students receive a certificate of completion and earn CE credit.
